I Am Grateful For What I Am Able To See
by Unai Mateo
I like to photograph the silent, the slow, the unnecessary, the still, the irrelevant, the mundane, the useless, the simple.
I find pleasure looking at these things.
But most importantly, I like to see them in pictures.
This way, instinctive routes emerge that I trace through my unconditional attraction to beauty. Beauty as in a beam of light entering without permission in the room where I rest. The beauty of a graffiti covered in plain paint on a wall that nobody looks at. Or the pleasure of watching how beautiful a curtain looks falling elegantly behind a window covered in dust.
I am thankful that I am able to see all these things that don't matter at all.
